Wondering how we calculate postage costs? It is dependant on two things - The value of your order, and your location.

Postage areas are generally split into 3 territories, or "Zones" - in line with Royal Mail guides. You can find out more about individual countries here, on the Royal Mail website, if you are unsure where your home country falls. This is largely, but not exclusively, how we determine the shipping cost for your destination. We have UK postage options, European, and international. We have combined World Zone 1 with World Zone 2 in our postage calculations, but have had to seperate Brazil and the Russian Federation from these zones, which is explained below.

These postal prices do not apply to large items (including but not exclusive to Doll Houses, Conservatories, Garden Buildings) To send these larger items customers MUST apply for a quote.

It is not possible for us to send items based on weight, which is why the value of your order is the deciding factor in postage costs.

      Please note that orders can be shipped uninsured but they will be sent at the customer's own risk. Recorded delivery is recommended for higher value orders. Recorded delivery requires a signature. If you will not be in to receieve your order, you may be left a red card - instructing you to arrange redelivery or pick up your package from a designated pick up point. The Royal Mail will only hold your package for a certain timeframe. If you do not arrange to pick up your goods, and they are returned to us, you will be charged for redelivery. If you decide you no loner wish to recieve your package once it has been returned to us, we will refund you for the cost of the goods only - no postage will be refunded.

We will not be liable for replacements of lost or damaged goods.

         After experiencing many issues regarding the Russian and Brazilian mail systems, we have unfortuantely had to alter the postage prices to the Russian Federation, and Brazil.

        We strongly advise customers in these locations opt for a Signed For service. Orders over £30 will only be sent via an International Signed for™ service.We will not be liable for replacements of lost or damaged goods. Please see additional info below.

 

Additional Information for overseas customers:

       Please be aware that you are responsible for choosing the correct shipping option upon checkout, and are responsible for shipping costs. Magpies-Miniatures are not responsible for any tariffs, customs restrictions, or other regulations that apply. We encourage you to speak with your customs office if you have any queries regarding importations of products. By law, we are obligated to state on the Customs Form what your package contains, and what the true value is. Each country has its own rules regarding importation of products, and we will not hold responsibility for any items being seized. As a customer, you are responsible to comply with International, National or local laws regulating importation of products that you may purchase. It is entirely your responsibility to NOT order items that are illegal to import into your country. There is usually not an importation problem, but occasionally they occur. The risk is yours. If for any reason the package is seized by Customs Officials, we will not issue you a refund unless all products are returned to us in their original condition, and you will be notified of this happening. If you have received no notification, this means we have not received the package back. If the package is returned to us by Customs Officials, you are still responsible for your original shipping charges. You will not receive a refund your order if it is seized and we do not get it back. If the items are returned to us in their original state, then we will be in contact with you to arrange a refund.
If an order is refused delivery by Customs due to unauthorized ingredients or contents, Magpies Miniatures is not to be held responsible for any losses or costs incurred by the customer. If the shipment is abandoned the customer will not receive a refund or credit of any kind. If in any case we received a return of any shipment refused by customs authorities of any country, Magpies Miniatures will credit the customer for the value of the unopened and un-tampered products purchased. No refund on shipping charges incurred for the return of the shipment or shipping charges sending the product. It is the consumers’ sole responsibility to only order what is legal for sale in their country. Receiver is responsible for any and all duty and/or VAT. Charges can vary based on destination, and Magpies-Miniatures reserve the right to change these charges at any time.

International Signed For items are electronically tracked only up to the point they leave the UK, and require a signature on arrival at the delivery address. We cannot track items once they have left the UK. If international tracking is required, please apply for a quote for an "Airsure" service. Airsure items are electronically scanned at 6 different points, in the UK and overseas to the point of delivery. If you have paid for standard Airmail shipping, then we cannot provide you with a tracking number, as we are not provided with one on this service. We always obtain proof of postage. Where is my order?

A question which is often asked, but not one we always automatically know the answer to!

We send you emails regarding the process of your order. In most cases, orders are dispatched within 3 working days. If there is due to be a significant delay for any reason, you will be notified. You will initially receive an Order Confirmation email, then a second when it is set to "processing", which means we are picking and packing your order ready for shipping. You will then be notified when it has been dispatched. If you have paid for a tracked service, this is when your tracking number will be provided.

All of our orders are taken to our local Post Office for shipping using Royal Mail services, and the Post Office workers hand us a huge pile of receipts. This is our "proof of postage" as Royal Mail call it - which really is just that, it's proof we have posted your order. On each slip, we are provided with the delivery address, time, weight, and charge for shipping. We keep these receipts; we have to for our own records, but it also means we can prove your order has been sent.

Regarding delivery timeframes, we can only pass on the information which Royal Mail state on their own website. Once your package has been handed over to Royal Mail, it is completely out of our hands. (I'd love to hand deliver some to some of the lovely tropical destinations, but unfortunately I can't be packed and sent around the world for less than £10!)

*Royal Mail Aim for parcels and packets to arrive to UK destinations within one working day, but this is NOT guaranteed. There is a Next Day Delivery service, which as expected, costs considerably more. We usually don't offer this service, but may make exceptions if we are contacted first and we agree to this. You will be invoiced via PayPal for the extra cost.

Some FAQ regarding these services

What is a "Working Day"? - A "business day" - or days businesses are expected to open. So typically Monday-Friday, excluding UK Bank and Public Holidays (Christmas, Easter, New Year etc)
It's been longer than the times say- what can I do? - First and foremost, stop panicking! Frantic and rude emails to us cannot make your package arrive any quicker. If you require something for a special occasion, we can only advise you order in plenty of time to minimise this frantic state. We can only send using the service you have opted for. We cannot provide you with a tracking number unless you have paid for a service which gives us a tracking number. Sounds obvious, but that's the way it goes. PLEASE be patient for delivery! Remember, these are Royal Mail AIMS, not guarantees. For example, it can take anything between 7-20 working days for a package to reach the USA, but there have been instances in the past where they have arrived within 48 hours! (I think it took me longer to travel to Texas than that!!) Delivery times vary considerably due to the time of year, weather conditions, unforseen circumstances where planes may be grounded for any reason (for example), and of course it's eventually down to your local mailing system to bring the package to your door. Please please please remain patient.
I really think my package is lost. What now? Royal Mail do not consider a package to be lost until 20 working days have passed (EU), or 25 working days have passed for Non-EU international orders. A claim form cannot be processed before this time has elapsed. It is possible your order has been held at Customs for some reason or other. Make sure you have read over your countries importation restrictions. After this period, we may be able to submit a claim on your behalf. For UK customers, we cannot accept a claim for loss unless 15 working days or more have passed since the item was due to be delivered. Claims for loss or damage must be made within 80 calendar days of the date they were posted.If you have waited the minimum time frames stated here, and your package still hasn't turned up - please get in contact and we will try and resolve the issue. Remember, we will have proof of postage, and can only track orders with a trackable service.
