General FAQ

What scale miniatures are right for me? - Can you explain scale?

Almost all the stock we sell is in 12th Scale, the most common collectible scale. We do supply 24th scale miniatures - These will be found in the 24th Scale Category in our ONLINE SHOP

If you are new to collecting or making miniatures, 12th scale is probably the right route for you, as you will find it easier to find supplies.

12th scale, in basic terms, means "12 times smaller than full-size". Also written as 1:12, or 1/12, or called "inch scale", 1 inch in miniature represents 12 inches in real life. So a 6 foot man, would stand at 6 inches tall as a 1:12 scale miniature.

24th scale (or 1:24, 1/24, or half-inch scale) is half the size of 12th scale. So the same 6 foot man would be represented as only 3 inches tall as a 24th scale miniature.

The higher the number, the smaller the miniature. Some people work with 1:48 scale miniatures, and even smaller! 12th scale is the best all-rounder for beginners,and established collectors. You'll find more range in this size.

If you have bought a house, and are unsure what scale it is in- measure the door. A 12th scale door will be little over 6 inches (15cm) in height. A 24th scale door will be around 3 inches (7.5cm) in height, or there abouts. Any other extreme measurement, and it's possible your house is handmade and/or not to a scale we supply.

Do you have a printed catalogue?

In order to keep our prices competitive and low, we do not offer a printed catalogue. We suggest grabbing a beverage of choice, comfy chair and browsing at your leisure!

Do you have a shop premises?

At the moment, no - we trade online only. However, this is something we are considering for the future. We ship worldwide though, so nobody needs to miss out! We do not have areas for customers to view our stock in person. We run an online business ONLY.

Are the miniatures you sell suitable for children?

The items supplied are NOT CE marked and are not intended for children to play with. The majority of the items we sell are unsuitable for children due to the intricate nature of the products, and are designed for adult collectors only. This information is presented at the footer of every page.

Shipping FAQ

How is postage calculated?

UK Shipping

Since November 2014, UK Mainland Shipping is only £3.95 per order with FREE shipping on orders over £40.00.

Heavy items shall be posted free of charge to UK mainland addresses but customers in Northern Ireland and the Highlands and Islands should get in touch for a postage quote before ordering.

We try to keep stock levels correct on our website at all times, but occasionally they may not correspond, and an item may not be in stock. We will usually refund you for the unavailable item during the picking process, or email you with details of alternatives if there are any available. Normal deliveries are usually posted between 1-3 working days where possible. You will be notified of any delays beyond this timescale, and given options to amend your order if necessary.

We post 3 days a week every week (with the only exception of Bank Holidays and the festive season) - our postal days are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Your orders will be dispatched on the next available postal day. Cut off times for same day dispatch is 12 noon.

Please be aware, we are unable to guarantee delivery times. In addition, we are unable to investigate delayed UK deliveries for 21 days. In many cases, delayed items are actually at local sorting offices so you should check at your local office if we have notified you of despatch, and your order hasn't arrived within 7 days. Please note that at busy times (particularly near Christmas and over Bank Holiday periods), deliveries can take longer than usual. Bad weather can also cause delays, so please plan ahead and order in plenty of time, particularly if your order is required for a gift.

International Shipping

Shipping within Europe (EU) is FREE on orders over £60, excluding large and bulky items (Such as houses, caravan kits, and all buildings.). This offer applies to parcels up to 2kgs and excludes all houses and buildings. If you are concerned your package may exceed the 2kg limit, please detail all items you wish to purchase, and get in touch for a quote.

Worldwide shipping is available at cost, depending on the value of your order. For particular large and heavy items, please contact us for a quote before placing your order. If your order is particularly heavy, we may need to send a PayPal request for addition postage costs.

How do I return an item?
 
If the item received is damaged or faulty-  Contact Us Using the Returns Form. We may be able to send a replacement without the original being returned. We may ask for photographic evidence to pass on to our suppliers to notify them of production faults. If the packaging is damaged, please ensure photographs depict this to help us with any claims we may need to make to the postal services.
 
If you have changed your mind- The items must be returned within 28 days, be in their original packaging, unused and undamaged and deemed saleable. We reserve the right to not refund returns if they do not meet the returns criteria. Refunds do not include Postage and Packaging costs.
 
UK and EU customers are covered by UK Distance Selling Regulations - the ability to return any order for a full refund including any P&P originally charged if the entire order is returned within 7 days of receipt. Please note that return postage is still the customer's responsibility. We recommend using a tracked service for returns for peace of mind. We cannot process a refund on an item we do not receive back.

How can I change or cancel an order?
 
Contact us as soon as possible. If your order is still processing, we may be able to change or cancel your order. If it has been despatched, we regret we will not be able to amend your order. You will need to place a new order if you have forgotten something, or follow the returns procedures if you no longer want the products. Return policies will apply.

Do I have to use PayPal to Pay?

Yes, PayPal is a secure payment gateway, and it is currently the only payment option we offer. This protects both us, as a seller- and you, as a buyer. If you do not have a PayPal account, you can sign up for one here. HOWEVER, it is NOT necessary to have a PayPal account to use the payment gateway- you can checkout as a guest, then simply choose "no" when asked if you want an account.  We no longer accept cheques, or postal orders, and please Do Not send cash in the post. We are not responsible for the loss of any money sent in the postal system, and cannot guarantee its receipt.
